This scholarship is intended to memorialize Michele Henderson RN.  Michele was a person with a true passion for nursing who cared deeply about her patients.  Unlike most nurses, Michele suffered from a chronic illness, Lupus, which caused her daily joint pain mainly in her hands.  Michele refused to let this childhood disease keep her from her dream of practicing nursing.  Her dedication to nursing is evidenced by the fact that she worked many days with her hands visibly swollen.  Her medical condition gave her a special empathy for her patients.

Michele Graduated from Panola College in 1997 with an Associates degree in Applied Science Nursing so to honor her this scholarship is exclusively for Panola College Nursing Students.

This scholarship will be awarded once each year, prior to the start of the fall semester, to a second year student in the Panola College Associate Degree RN program.  The amount of the annual scholarship will be $1000.00.  The requirements for the scholarship are:

    * Student must be in the 2nd year of the Associate Degree Nursing Program at Panola College

    * Student must have a Grade Point Average of 3.0 or greater on a 4 point scale

    * Student must have overcome some adversity

Those interested in making application for Fall 2009 should complete the application form and return it by mail prior to May 15, 2009.
